CrossFit and Tapering

It’s that time, you guys. Time to start tapering! I can’t believe it’s already here!

I ran my last “long” long run…12 miles! I’ve never run that far in a training run! I’m hoping it’ll set me up for a good race. I’m an odd combination of nervous and excited about the race. I know I didn’t put everything I could have into my training, but I also know that I still managed some solid training. Based on my training paces, I should be able to finish my half marathon in just under 3 hours. Which is my goal! But, I’m slightly more realistic than that. I never race as well as I could, so I think I’m just going to make my goal be to get as close to that 3 hour mark as possible.

In other news, I decided that it would be a good time to start doing some CrossFit. I know. Probably not the smartest thing to do just weeks before my race! But I’m actually really enjoying it. The gym I’m going to, is just for women. So that made it so much less intimidating! Everyone there is super nice and helpful. It’s been quite a learning experience. I’ve been able to do more than I expected I’d be able to, although I’m still a bit nervous about trying box jumps! I’m getting pretty comfortable with the barbell though, and one of these days I’m going to be able to do a pull up! I’m really hoping it will be a good compliment to my running. I just need to make sure I don’t overdo it!
